AND The Devil Wears Prada About Anna Wintour?

The creators of the film – which is based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger – did not hesitate to share their inspirations behind the apathetic setting of the film’s fashion world. Although not entirely inspired by Vogue chief editor Anna Wintourthe designers were too afraid to lend costume pieces to the film for fear of Anna’s reaction, the writer said Aline Brosh McKenna counted Weekly entertainment in 2021.

“I had a really hard time finding someone in the fashion world who would talk to me, because people were afraid of Anna and Voguenot wanting to be rejected,” said Aline. “There was one person who spoke to me, whose name I will never disclose, who read it and said, ‘The people in this movie are really cool. Nobody in this world is very nice. They don’t need to be and they don’t have time to be. After that, I made a pass to make everyone a little busier and meaner.”

Despite this, Anna had a sense of humor about the film. In January 2024, the fashion queen and Anne made guest appearances on Broadway Gutenberg as producers, who ultimately hand the show’s stars a Broadway contract.

Anna announced that she was stepping down from her role as EIC of Vogue in June 2025.

Julia was seen resting her head in her hands as she blushed at the lyrics, before flashing a huge smile.

Meanwhile, Andrew added that he believed it was more the ‘top 0.5 percentile’.

Admitting he once watched Pretty Woman six times in a row, Robbie recalled how the film, in which Julia starred, ‘inspired him’.

Robbie said: ‘Julia Roberts. Oh my God, I can’t. I’ve watched Pretty Woman six times in a row.

Julia, who was 22 at the time, played sex worker Vivien Ward, and Richard Geré, then 40, starred as billionaire businessman Edward Lewis.

Vivian, who was hired by Edward, ended up falling in love after he initially hired her to accompany him to some social events.

The film was written by struggling screenwriter JF Lawton and cast an unknown Julia in its lead role, before becoming the fifth highest-grossing film of all time upon its release.

During the interview, Robbie also confessed that she canceled her album release after realizing she would be facing Taylor Swift.

At a comeback show at Dingwalls in London, the Angels hitmaker told fans he postponed Britpop after discovering Taylor had set her release date and admitted there was no point trying to compete with the biggest star in the world.

“We’re all pretending this isn’t about Taylor Swift, but damn it is,” Robbie told the crowd, according to The Sun. ‘You can’t compete with that one, that’s the truth.’

Robbie, who currently shares the record of 15 UK No. 1 albums with The Beatles, confessed he had one thing on his mind: breaking that record.

He continued: “I want 16 albums at number one and you know Taylor decided to release her album a week before me and I just went for ‘for God’s sake’.”

Robbie joked that the decision was ‘selfish’, but insisted: ‘How many times in your life can you have the most number one albums the UK has ever had?’

Taylor broke Adele’s streaming record when her new album, The Life Of A Showgirl, racked up 3.5 million copies sold in its first week.

The modern-era single-week sales record was previously held by Adele’s album 25, with 3.378 million copies sold upon its release in 2015.

The Life Of A Showgirl sold 3.2 million physical and digital copies and 300,000 equivalent streaming album units, for a total of 3.5 million.

Adele’s 25 secured 3.482 million equivalent units in 2015, with 3.378 million from traditional sales and the rest from streaming.

A record 5 million fans pre-saved The Life Of A Showgirl on Spotify and a special vinyl edition, available online, sold out in less than an hour.

  • Long before Tilly Norwood, we forget that Al Pacino covered the idea of an AI actress in his surreal 2000s sci-fi

Long before Tilly Norwood, we forget that Al Pacino covered the idea of an AI actress in his surreal 2000s sci-fi

Al PacinoPaul’s career has swung between extremes, with his legendary status perhaps testament to the passion he brings to every project – be it grand epics like The godfather or small experiments conducted by characters. In 2002, he took a detour into satire with the science fiction film S1m0neand today this decision seems more like a prophecy. The Hollywood Artists Union (SAG-AFTRA) condemned the revelation of Tilly Norwood – the fully AI-generated “actress” who “appeared” at the Zurich Film Festival – calling the move a threat to human art and a violation of artists’ rights. The union’s indignation is, essentially, S1m0neThe premise of: what happens when an illusion becomes the new ideal?

Pacino plays Viktor Taransky, a struggling director who creates a digital actress, Simone (Rachel Roberts), in a desperate effort to save his collapsing career. The trick quickly takes on a life of its own as the virtual star becomes a global sensation. But when his creation surpasses him, Viktor’s pride begins to wane. S1m0ne shows how Hollywood’s quest for perfection and make-believe ends up turning against itself.

‘S1m0ne’ Pokes Hollywood’s Sacred Cows (And Still Makes You Laugh)

One of the joys of S1m0ne it’s how audaciously it distorts Hollywood’s concept of celebrity. The film ridicules how fans, studios and media treat fame as an algorithm to be optimized. Simone’s fraudulent rise—winning awards, landing magazine publicity, and landing advertising deals without a human soul behind her—invites even greater scrutiny as more success is demanded of her. Whether she is being booked for performances, shows and interviews, there is no limit to her. There’s always something more she can do to keep her studio and her bosses in the spotlight.

As Viktor struggles to maintain his ubiquity, the film reveals how easily the industry idolizes polished surfaces—however fake—over messy but real substances. In a monologue, Pacino’s Taransky laments that the game is rigged in favor of the artist who “pretends to make money,” while the artist who focuses on craftsmanship is buried. He recalls the days when art came before acting and movie stars still cared about work. Now, he says, the contracts have become their own productions, with demands as absurd as having seven packs of cigarettes in each room – three already opened.

Written, produced and directed by André Nicol (Gattaca, The Truman Show), the film turns this anxiety into satire. Simone represents the artist who starts out with pure intention but is pressured to conform to Hollywood’s idea of the superstar. The industry’s obsession with control, Niccol argues, becomes counterproductive – especially for art itself. Ironically, Viktor, although he condemns Hollywood’s control, is equally obsessed with being in charge. He programs Simone to follow his every command and even uses her to influence fellow cast members. “Trust Taransky,” he instructs her to tell them. “When in doubt, do it the Taransky way.” Surprisingly, one of S1m0neIts charm lies in its indecision to act as a joke or a warning. His tone shifts between chaos and humor while remaining aware that he is mocking his own ideas.

How ‘S1m0ne’s Ghost Haunts the Tilly Norwood Scandal

In September 2025, Hollywood was shaken by the revelation of Tilly Norwood, an AI-generated “actress” created by talent studio Xicoia. SAG-AFTRA responded forcefully, declaring: “Creativity is, and must continue to be, human-centered. The union opposes the replacement of human artists with synthetic ones.”

“To be clear, Tilly Norwood is not an actress – she is a character generated by a computer program trained on the work of countless professional artists – without permission or compensation.” – SAG-AFTRA

Actors joined the reaction. Emily Blunt called Norwood’s rise “very, very scary” and urged agencies to disengage. Natasha Lyonne they labeled him “deranged,” while others called for boycotts of talent agencies that sign up to AI avatars. S1m0ne brought that anxiety to the screen. At that time, few people thought much about it. But as Norwood’s debut proves, S1m0ne is no longer just satire – it’s a warning that goes beyond the “what if” premise. Watching now, The film’s central tension shifts from “what if” to watching an actor contort himself into a role that’s about control and illusion.as the world around him approaches the same mysterious limits he fears to cross. Two decades later, Pacino’s madcap director is no longer a relic of old Hollywood eccentricity, but a man living in a future he doesn’t imagine will arrive too soon.

  • Reese Witherspoon tells a beautiful story about how she met Diane Keaton when she moved to Hollywood, and celebrities like Kerry Washington shared beautiful responses

Reese Witherspoon tells a beautiful story about how she met Diane Keaton when she moved to Hollywood, and celebrities like Kerry Washington shared beautiful responses

This weekend, the world lost one of its most impactful actresses, Diane Keaton, who died at age 79. Keaton was a legend among entertainers, starring in iconic films such as Anne Hall, The godfather and Something has to give throughout his illustrious career. Since the news of the Oscar winner’s death broke, legions of fans have paid tribute to her, as have other actors. Reese Witherspoon also paid tribute to Keaton by sharing a sweet story about working with her years ago, and other stars had adorable responses.

How Reese Witherspoon paid loving tribute to Diane Keaton

Before Witherspoon became the A-list actress and powerhouse producer she is today, she was a young actress hoping to break into the entertainment industry. Witherspoon reflected on this period in her career during a sweet moment at the Hello Sunshine Shine Away conference this weekend. Amid the event, Witherspoon acknowledged Keaton’s death with attendees and reflected on what it was like as one of her first auditions for the late actress:

Diane was very important, she was one of my first mentors in this business. I was 15 years old, from Nashville, Tennessee, and I didn’t know anyone. And I went in – it was my second, maybe my third audition for a movie, and I auditioned for her.

The idea of auditioning for a big star like Diane Keaton looks quite intimidating, but I can’t even imagine doing that as a teenager. Needless to say, Reese Witherspoon found herself in a prime position to make a good impression at that point in her career. As Witherspoon explained (as seen in Instagram), she managed to make a good impression when she finally got the opportunity to speak to Keaton in person. What ended up happening was a funny exchange between the two actresses:

She looked at me afterwards, and I came in with a big country accent and was playing a little Southern girl. And she said, ‘Who are you?’ I said, ‘I’m Reese Witherspoon, I’m from Nashville, Tennessee.’ She said, ‘Are you making this up, this accent you’re doing?’ I said, ‘No, ma’am, I’m from Nashville, Tennessee. And I’m here and I would love to be in your movie. [She said,] ‘Well, you’re hired. You are hired today, tomorrow and the next day. I don’t know who you are, but I’m so excited to have you.

That was pure charm and kindness coming from First Wives Club icon, and I love how, in that moment, she just encouraged Witherspoon instead of discouraging her. Still, I love the idea of Keaton – a California native – being humorously surprised by Witherspoon’s Nashville-bred accent. These cultural differences didn’t stop the two stars from becoming close when filming Keaton’s film. Wildflowershowever. Witherspoon explained how important Keaton’s guidance was:

I went and did this movie, and she directed the movie, and it was called Wildflower, and I did it with Patricia Arquette and Diane Keaton, and it was one of the most important summers of my childhood. Why [Diane] actually took the time to pull me aside and say, ‘Stand up, okay? I want you to have good posture. If you’re going to be an actress, you need to improve your posture, okay? I was like, ‘Yes, Mrs. Keaton.’

Considering that Reese Witherspoon has headlined major films and even won an Oscar, I’d like to think that she absorbed a lot of the knowledge that Diane Keaton imparted on her. I really appreciate how Witherspoon also pays respect to those who inspired her, as she did recently when Jane Goodall died. When it came to her tribute to Keaton, Witherspoon lovingly ended by suggesting that fans watch one of the late star’s films and wear an eclectic ensemble in his honor.

    Some celebrities had sweet responses

Witherspoon’s sweet memory of Keaton has since gone viral, so it’s probably not that surprising that other stars have reacted to her IG post. Kerry Washington and Candace Cameron Bure were some of the actors who participated, and their reactions, as well as others, can be seen below:

    • I love it. And you. – Kerry Washington
    • I loved hearing this story. Thanks for sharing 🥹💔 – Candace Cameron Bure
    • ❤️❤️❤️ – Julianne Moore
    • ❤️❤️❤️ – Natasha Lyonne
    • ❤️ – Abigail Spencer

The love for Keaton has been more than evident since the news of his passing hit the Internet. Bette Midler and Steven Martin also paid tribute along with others such as Viola Davis, Jane Fonda and Kate Hudson, among others. Honestly, it’s been great to see so many people showing love and honoring Keaton for not only being a great actor, but also for being a true original.

Diane Keaton leaves behind a historic filmography, as well as many pupils, including Reese Witherspoon. I feel confident in saying that Keaton’s legacy will live on, especially if Witherspoon and others continue to show their love for her. In the meantime, we here at CinemaBlend continue to extend our thoughts to Keaton’s family and friends during this time.

  • Diane Keaton – An Appreciation of a Shining Star

Diane Keaton – An Appreciation of a Shining Star

The day should not pass without another memory and thanks to Diane Keaton.

Almost all deaths today, following the news of his death at age 79, were right Anne Hall in your title. And why not? It was that 1977 comedy classic that gave Keaton her first and only Oscar, defined her fashion sense that carried her through to the end, and is being hailed as her greatest role. Woody Allen won the first two of his four career Oscars for his screenplay and direction, and the film was named Best Picture.

Diane Keaton was Annie Hall, or at least she made us believe so. In fact, her real name is Diane Hall and her nickname is Annie. This gave Allen a lot of inspiration to create the role for herself just eight years after she first appeared on Broadway, fully clothed, of course, in the original production of Hair.

Woody Allen and Diane Keaton in ‘Annie Hall’

Keaton could have skated in this image, made variations and had a successful career with that highlight. There was so much more however, and in my opinion she TRUE The biggest role was still 26 years away, but I’ll get there. In the meantime, there was The godfather films; the boldness Looking for Mr. Goodbar; the epic Reds, where she played Louise Bryant and co-starred with Warren Beatty, who also directed; the raucously funny First Wives Club with Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn (but we never got the promised follow-up); stirring dramatic twists Shoot for the Moon with Albert Finney and Mrs. with Mel Gibson; and later his collaboration with director and screenwriter Nancy Meyers, first forged with Meyers and Charles Shyer in Father of the bride movies with Steve Martin, so Baby Boom and finally Meyers as director and writer, 2003 Something has to give.

    ‘Something has to give’

Was what film that truly showcased the full force of Keaton’s immense talents, brought together in the portrait of a fifty-something woman who seemingly has everything except romance in a society where middle-aged women are basically left out. Jack Nicholson was her co-star as a lecherous playboy romancing her daughter, a man who would never dream of being with a woman his age, but who due to circumstances suffers a heart attack in her house, leading to a forever relationship – the older ages, that is – an area that Hollywood rarely touches on in a mainstream film, unless it’s with movie stars like Keaton and Nicholson.

Keaton had it all in this wonderfully smart, sexy and sensational romantic comedy, with a performance that made me melt. Keanu Reeves also cameos as a young doctor who falls in love with her, and you totally believe why. She’s magnificent in this and if it weren’t for Charlize Theron’s transformative transformation Monster that year would certainly earn her a second Oscar for Best Actress. I don’t need to count the ballots to know that would have been the result. Ultimately, this would be the last nomination she would get, and the last excellent part she achieved.

Of course there was much more after that, and Keaton never stopped working, mostly on light comedies with other people his own age, notably the Book Club films with Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen. I loved seeing that foursome and it looked like everyone was having fun. His last film, the terrible summer camp, It was another attempt at this type of casting, but it’s best forgotten. Keaton even shot a pilot named Tilda in which she played a fictional version of Nikki Finke, founder of this website, but luckily it never saw the light of day. If you look on IMDb, there are still several Keaton films listed as in pre-production, but fate intervened.

Diane Keaton and Al Pacino in ‘The Godfather’

I had heard a few months ago that Keaton was not doing well and was no longer leaving his beloved dream home in Los Angeles. It was a little shocking because she wasn’t someone who seemed to age a lot, forever Annie Hall, la dee da and all that.

What many people may not know is that Keaton also had a unique look behind the camera, directing films such as Shutting down and TV episodes of shows like Twin Peaksthe latter something that seemed ripe for his creative sensibilities. His first foray behind the camera was in 1987 with the fascinating documentary Paradise, in which she interviewed mostly ordinary people about their view of the afterlife and heaven. Now she’s on this journey to real place. Let’s hope she gets enough material for an ethereal sequel.

Keaton wrote a few memoirs, but the most memorable is a coffee table book in 1983 called “Still Life,” which is still my favorite picture book. always because all the photos are posed and staged in heavily retouched technicolors of Hollywood sound stages featuring the famous and infamous. She lets the photographs speak for themselves, but in the preface she stated her fascination with them. “For some reason, when you take people out of real life and photograph them in an artificial situation, what you get is the feeling that the people are truly indefinable,” she wrote. “What you want is place that indefinable quality, which is totally impossible.”

What we got from her was an entirely unique shining star, an ability to keep us watching no matter what she chose to do, and to become forever immortal as only the great can be.

    Indefinable. This is Diane Keaton.
