Diane Keaton, Oscar-Winning Star of Annie Hall, The First Wives Club and More, Dies at 79

Legendary actress Diane Keaton has died at age 79. She passed away in California and no other details have been shared at this time.

Keaton, who was born in Los Angeles in 1946, died in California at the age of 79, according to People. At this time, his family and friends have asked for privacy and the cause and date of his death have not been released.

For more than five decades, Diane Keaton made films that, to this day, are iconic.

His career really took off in the 1970s thanks to his roles in some of the best films of the 70s (and of all times), as The godfather. She appeared in all three The godfather films like Kay Adams. In 2022, she told People that the “kindest thing” anyone had ever done for her was casting her in the first of these films.

Keaton also worked a lot with Woody Allen early in his career. Then in 1977 she starred Anne Hall. She played the titular character and ultimately won an Oscar for Best Actress. To this day, Anne Hall is considered one of the greatest romantic comedies of all time.

Another hallmark of Diane Keaton’s career was her collaborations with Nancy Meyers. Their first project together was in 1987 Baby Boom. After that, they worked together on three more occasions, with Father of the bride (which is one of her and Steve Martin’s best films), Father of the Bride Part II and Something has to give.

Speaking of Something has to givewhich she starred in alongside Jack Nicholson, this 2003 film marked Keaton’s fourth Oscar nomination. His other nominations were for 1981 Reds and 1996 Marvin’s Roomand, as I noted, she won in 1978 by Anne Hall. This alone proves how iconic her career is as it shows how she has consistently flourished over the decades.

However, obviously, his legendary filmography does not end there. She has 74 credits to her name, which include comedies like highly quotable First Wives Club, the Christmas movie, The family stone, and the Book Club films, in which she starred alongside fellow icons Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen.

Outside of her film acting work, she has also been on Broadway and received a Tony nomination in 1969 for the play Play it again, Sam.

She was also a director and directed projects such as Hanging, Wildflower and shows how Twin Peaks and Pasadena.

The last film released that Diane Keaton starred in was the 2024 film summer campwhich also starred Kathy Bates, Alfre Woodard and Eugene Levy. Can be transmitted with a Hulu Subscription. She also had three films in the pipeline – The Making Of, Constança and Resident artist – and in accordance with IMDBthey are all in pre-production.

Moving from professional to personal, Keaton never married. She had two sons, Dexter and Duke. She adopted Dexter in 1996 and Duke in 2001. She left them.

We here at CinemaBlend send our thoughts and condolences to Diane Keaton’s friends, family, and loved ones. She will always be a legend and her incredible work will be remembered forever.

  • Weekend Update Brings Back Amy Poehler, Tina Fey & More for Surprise SNL Joke

Weekend Update Brings Back Amy Poehler, Tina Fey & More for Surprise SNL Joke

Whenever a former Weekend Update anchor host Saturday night livethere is an expectation that they can take off their church clothes and appear behind the table to read some jokes. As such, it wasn’t a surprise to see Amy Poehler join Colin Jost and Michael Che this week, but it certainly was a surprise to see several other former Weekend Update anchors join her for a romp.

That’s right. This week featured a good old-fashioned joke between Jost, Che, Poehler and special guests Tina Fey and Seth Meyers. Both Fey and Meyers, of course, were co-anchors alongside Poehler at various points during her tenure; So the cameos made a lot of sense, even if they were unexpected.

The setting for the joke was a woman in Tennessee breaking a hospital record by having a thirty-pound baby, and to no one’s surprise, her enormous child proved to be a good subject for many quick jokes. You watch all the current and former anchors in action below…

Weekend Update: 13 Pound Baby Joke Off with Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Seth Meyers, Colin Jost and Michael Che – YouTube
Weekend Update: 13 Pound Baby Joke Off with Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Seth Meyers, Colin Jost and Michael Che - YouTube

    Watch on

Together, these five are in the top six in total Weekend Update anchoring or co-anchoring episodes. Jost is first with 226 episodes, followed by Che with 219 episodes, followed by Meyers with 154 episodes, followed by Fey with 118 episodes, followed by Poehler with 80 episodes. Only Dennis Miller ranks higher with 111 episodes, though I suppose we should give Jimmy Fallon a shoutout too, since he’s tied with Poehler’s 80 episodes.

In addition to being a bit of fun, this Weekend Update segment is also a good reminder of how similar, yet different, the segment can be under different anchors. The basic concept of reading the news like a traditional anchor and telling jokes about it has never changed since Chevy Chase launched the segment in the 1970s, but the tone, subject matter and delivery can change a lot with each anchor’s sensibilities.

This current version of Weekend Update represented the longest period of stability in the history of the long-running segment. Jost and Che have shared roles for more than ten consecutive seasons, which has never happened before. However, exactly how long this stability will last is an open question. Rumors surfaced near the end of last season that Jost might leave over the summer, and there were similar rumors about Che as well. The two are no longer the show’s main writers and have plenty of opportunities for each other. SNLmany fans thought they would leave.

Fortunately, they didn’t. They are back for another season. At some point, however, they will move on from Studio 8H, and it will be fascinating to see whether showrunner Lorne Michaels and company choose someone currently in the cast or bring in someone new. Either way, they’ll evolve the segment to their own tastes and we’ll have a new and exciting take on the old classic to watch.

The rest of Poehler’s episode was, of course, great. I recommend playing the whole thing on Peacock or through your DVR and checking it out. The show will return next week with an all-new episode featuring guest host Sabrina Carpenter, who will most likely not be reading the news on Weekend Update.

She went on to star in classics like Annie Hall, Father of the Bride, First Wives Club and Something’s Gotta Give. For Annie Hall, she won the Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for Best Actress. Over the course of his five-decade career, Keaton received three more Oscar nominations for Reds, Marvin’s Room and Something’s Gotta Give.

    Dexter Keaton White

Dexter Keaton White, born December 15, 1995, is Diane Keaton’s first adopted child. She married Jordan White in June 2021, and Diane was seen happily dancing with her daughter at the wedding, dressed in her signature white pantsuit and hat.

Dexter often shares heartfelt posts about his mother on Instagram. In a 2014 Mother’s Day post, she wrote, “I’m so grateful to have been adopted by such a strong, beautiful, and talented woman. I couldn’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me. I love you!”

She also shared photos from her childhood, including one with her brother Duke, writing, “Look, my mom isn’t wearing shoes, which isn’t unusual for her.” Dexter frequently supports his mother’s projects online, including Keaton’s book Fashion First.

    Duke Keaton

Victoria Beckham reveals why she removed her breast implants!

Victoria Beckham is so happy to have gotten rid of one thing in her life: her breast implants!

In an interview with The Sun On Friday, amid the release of her self-titled docu-series, Posh Spice opened up about her decision to ditch her implants years ago. For those who don’t know, Victoria had a boob job in 1999, reportedly increasing her breast size from a 34A to a 34D. Wow. The singer explained to the outlet that she had chest surgery because she was trying to find her identity after being in spice girls for so long and starting a high-profile relationship with her football player husband David Beckham:

“I mean, yes, I was a Wag. And a proud one. I think I spent a lot of time after the Spice Girls looking for my purpose and I didn’t know what it was, so I suppose that’s why I dressed the way I did. There were a lot of hair extensions and tight tops and fake tan, although I still wear fake tan. I’m not going to lie, it was probably for attention, because I was looking for my identity.”

However, Victoria ultimately decided to remove them. The designer joked that her implants are possibly “swaying in the Mediterranean Sea” these days. hahaha! As for why she underwent breast implant removal, she credits fellow designer Roland Mouret for encouraging her to adopt a more natural look early in her fashion career, saying:

“I don’t know where those boobs went, but they did. It was definitely working with Roland that did it. He’s so good and I wouldn’t have a career if it weren’t for him.”

And she ultimately felt it was the right decision for her career as she wanted to “be taken more seriously” in the industry:

“It came from needing to be taken more seriously and me not knowing who I was. And so I think it was Roland who encouraged me to just be me – not feel like I had to be that person.

    Good for Vitória!
