  • ‘Happy Death Day’ Star’s Upcoming Giant Snake Film Is the Perfect Play to Jack Black’s ‘Anaconda’ Reboot [Exclusive]

‘Happy Death Day’ Star’s Upcoming Giant Snake Film Is the Perfect Play to Jack Black’s ‘Anaconda’ Reboot [Exclusive]

Expectations are rising for the next Black Jack and Paul Ruddremake led by Anaconda coming later this year, but as it turns out, it’s not the only giant snake movie coming out of the woodwork. Lionsgate recently acquired Silent Night, Deadly Night restart helmer Mike P. Nelsonnext movie, Titan – another story of an unfortunate group of people who encounter a snake beyond their imagination in the Amazon Rainforest. Compared to Black and Rudd’s effort, which turns into a comedic, campy meta-story about a team trying to remake the 1997 film Jennifer Lopez creature feature, only to find out the real deal, Nelson’s feature will provide a very different tone. In the eyes of Happy Day of Death star Jessica Rothein fact, it will be the perfect complement to what the snake movie has to offer.

Speaking with Collider’s Aidan Kelly for his Screamfest opening night film, AffectionRothe opened up about Titan in the context of Anaconda. His film is set along the Curuçá River in present-day Brazil, where a team of young doctors embarks on a humanitarian mission. Upon entering the Amazon, however, they discover that not everything welcomes their presence. This includes an ancient predator known as Boiúna fighting to rid the jungle of its would-be invaders and beginning a harrowing fight for the survival of humans who just wanted to bring aid to the area. It also features a talented horror cast surrounding Rothe, including Street of Fear trilogy star Kiana Madeira and To updateof Logan Marshall-Green.

Rothe made comparisons of Tony Giglio and Alan B. McElroythe story doesn’t only to the giant snake classic, but also to a certain William Friedkin thriller about four fugitives in South America escort a volatile shipment of nitroglycerin on a treacherous journey filled with guerrillas and unstable terrain. Titan promises to be the “bravest” alternative to the new Anacondashe said, even though she’s equally excited to see the funniest snake movie. From the cast to Nelson’s direction and the overall fun of filming, she’s confident her efforts can stand alongside Black and Rudd as something of their own.

“So what I think is really cool about ‘Titan’ and the ‘Anaconda’ reboot coming out at the same time is, I don’t know, I haven’t read the Anaconda reboot script, but it sounds like a goddamn blast. A comedy. Jack Black, Paul Rudd, give me more, I want all of that. I want to bathe in that. But our movie is much more like ‘Sorcerer’ met ‘Anaconda‘ then it’s brave and real. It’s about a group of doctors without borders who come down and spend a lot of time, and they just come across a force that they didn’t expect. And Mike. P. Nelson, our director, is just incredible, another incredible cast behind that, and so, I haven’t seen it yet, but all the things I’ve seen and even filming, we went to the Amazon to film. So I got to go on rainforest tours and go boating! So who doesn’t want to do that?

‘Affection’ takes Rothe into a new realm of sci-fi horror

The next big horror role for Rothe, Affectionplays with some familiar themes from his work in Happy death day films. Instead of navigating a bloody, repeating anniversary, however, she plays a mother tormented by a condition that continually resets her memory of her husband and daughter. Trapped in a nightmare of violent convulsions and a difficult memory that has made those closest to her seem like strangers, she tries to unravel the mystery behind her current existence before forgetting everything again. The film marks the cinema debut BT Meza and boasts a very lean cast, with only Lincolnof Jose Cruz and Scrapof Julianna Layne accompanying Rothe. While a date hasn’t been set for its release following its October 7 premiere at Screamfest, all indications are that it will be released not long after it plays through the remaining fall festivals.

Stay tuned here at Collider for more information Titan and Affection until release dates are set, and stay tuned for more of our Screamfest coverage.

Alemeda and Doechii Threaten ‘Beat AB!tch Up’ in Their New Punk Collaboration

Top Dawg Entertainment may well have had a reputation as one of rap music’s top record labels over the past decade, but that doesn’t mean rap is all they do. The label is also home to Alemeda, an unapologetic alternative rocker who isn’t afraid to tackle the “black girls don’t make guitar music” stereotype. She has a new EP on the way, and today she released a video for her defiant single, “Beat AB!tch Up,” featuring labelmate Doechii.

It’s a smart collaboration between two innovative Black women who refuse to shrink to fit into the various boxes the world tries to put them into. Both are also exactly the type that lives up to the song’s fight title. In the video, the pair organize a probably unauthorized boxing match on the deck of a ship and jet ski around the harbor – some real rock star shit. The video ends with a fireworks display over the boat as Alemeda screams into the microphone and headbangs alongside her all-female backing band.

The single will appear on Alemeda’s upcoming EP But what the hell do I knowscheduled for release on November 7th, distributed by Warner Records.

Watch Alemeda’s “Beat AB!tch Up” video with Doechii above.

But what the hell do I know Track list:

    1. “1-800-F**K-YOU”
    2. “Beat AB!tch Up” stunt. Doechii
    3. “Chameleon” feat. Rachel Chinouriri
    4. “Happy with you”
    5. “I’m over it”
    6. “Losing myself”
    7. “Stupid Little Bitch”

    Watch Watson Season 2: Preview

CBS’ twisty modern update of Sherlock returns for a second outing, with a host of new medical mysteries for Morris Chesnut’s good doctor to unravel. And with old enemies lying dormant, it’s time for some old friends to resurface. Keep reading as we explain below how to watch Watson 2nd season online – and stream from anywhere with a VPN.

Coming from Elementary showrunner Craig Sweeny, the show’s first season saw John Watson leave London for Pittsburgh following the supposed death of his good friend at the hands of the cowardly James Moriarty (Randall Park). Putting his investigative skills to good use, Watson opened the Holmes Clinic for Diagnostic Medicine, specializing in the treatment of rare diseases.

But with Moriarty’s defeat, everything returns to normal at the start of Season 2, with Watson tasked with a personal case after Mary’s mother (Rochelle Aytes) accidentally poisons herself while suffering from an aggressive form of dementia, causing her to believe she is 25 and pregnant with her first child.

But as the team of doctors races to find a cure, Watson faces an even bigger mystery, with the return of the supposedly dead Sherlock Holmes (Robert Carlyle). Anyone familiar with almost any iteration of the consulting detective will know that the incident at Reichenbach Falls is rarely the end for Holmes, so it’s no surprise to see him resurface here, and Carlyle is inspired by the casting of a character that so many of the greats took a chance on.

After a thrilling first season, it looks like CBS’ latest Sherlock venture is in full swing, so read on to find out everything you need to watch Watson Season 2 online and streamed from anywhere.

  • ‘SNL’ Host Amy Poehler Calls Out AI, Show’s 50th, Goes “Full Frontal” in Monologue

‘SNL’ Host Amy Poehler Calls Out AI, Show’s 50th, Goes “Full Frontal” in Monologue

After a week in which talent agencies, the MPA and SAG-AFTRA’s Sean Astin called out OpenAI’s video generation app, Amy Poehler used her opening monologue in Saturday night live to denounce the existential threat to Hollywood.

“Before we start the show, I just wanted to say one thing,” Poehler said. “I know it may feel like times are really hard right now, and in some ways they always have been and always will be. So I’ll just say this: There’s a place that feels like home that you can come back to and laugh with your friends. Consider yourself lucky, and I do. And to that little AI robot watching TV right now who wants to be on this stage someday, I say be boop be boop be boop… which translates to: you’ll never will you be able to write a joke, you are stupid robot!”

Poehler also noted in his opening that 50 years ago today, the first episode of SNL went on air. “This episode was hosted by George Carlin and, like George Carlin, I am extremely stoned.”

“It’s always a dream come true to be here,” she continued. “I remember watching the show in the ’70s, sitting in my house in Burlington, Massachusetts, thinking, ‘I want to be an actress someday, at least until they invent an AI actress who’s funnier and willing to do full frontal.’”

“But 50, wow! You know what’s cool about turning 50? You start to not care what people think. And that’s what’s so great about it SNL. She obviously stopped caring.”

Poehler ended her monologue by saying that she was always willing to do “full frontal, but no one asked me.”

    Check it out above.

  • Kantara Chapter 1 (Hindi) Box Office: Rishab Shetty starrer sees big growth on 2nd Saturday

Kantara Chapter 1 (Hindi) Box Office: Rishab Shetty starrer sees big growth on 2nd Saturday

Kantara: Chapter 1 (Hindi) saw a huge increase in business on its second Saturday. According to initial estimates, the film doubled its second Friday business on Saturday, grossing Rs. 13.50 crore net approx. The drop since the first Saturday is less than 30 percent, which is a stellar retention. The total for ten consecutive days is Rs. 122 crore net.

The second weekend is projected to raise Rs. 35 crore net, and the entire week will be comfortably over Rs. 50 crore net. The film will cost over Rs. 150 crore net after two weeks. On day one, this number seemed like a somewhat optimistic life total. However, the film has trended considerably better since then, avoiding big drops on weekdays and growing well on weekends or holidays. Now, it aims to reach probably around Rs. 200 crore net or more, although this requires good collection during and after the Diwali period. The way it’s been going so far, it’s not overtly optimistic to expect that to happen.

Expectations from the film were higher among a section of the trade who expected it to perform as sequels to other South Indian films like Baahubali 2, KGF 2 and Pushpa 2. While the trade talk was not completely unfounded, after all, the first film had a gravity-defying run, going from Rs. 1.25 crore opening day net to Rs. 80 crore plus final net. However, in the end, it was just talk. All talk aside, this is a period film set in the regional folklore of South India, with no face value, these numbers are impressive.

The box office collections of Kantara: Chapter 1 (Hindi) in India are as follows:

    Day Net
Week One (8 days) Rs. 101.75 cr.
    2nd Friday Rs. 6.75 cr.
    2nd Saturday Rs. 13.50 cr.
    Total Rs. 122.00 cr.

Growth is also strong in the South, both in Kannada and South dubbed versions. The all-India gross will be over Rs. 40 crore for 2nd Saturday.

  • Taylor Swift loses nearly 1 million Instagram followers amid disastrous album launch,…

Taylor Swift loses nearly 1 million Instagram followers amid disastrous album launch,…

    Reading time: 3 minutes

Taylor Swift was in the news a lot last week.

That’s usually the case when she releases a new album, but this time there’s a twist:

Sales of The life of a dancer were spectacular – breaking records, in fact – but the response to the album was… well, mixed would be the polite way to put it.

American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift takes the stage as part of her Eras Tour, in Lisbon, on May 24, 2024. American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift takes the stage as part of her Eras Tour, in Lisbon, on May 24, 2024.

It’s not just that Taylor is dealing with some of the first star criticism of her career.

It’s also the fact that even longtime fans are calling out some of the album’s lyrics as being more than a little problematic.

Taylor has been accused of bullying Charli XCX with “Actually Romantic,” in which she allegedly attacks her fellow pop star in a brutal manner.

Even worse, Swift is accused of using racially insensitive imagery in songs like “Opalite” and “Wish List.”

Taylor Swift arrives before a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on October 7, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri. Needless to say, this isn’t the kind of week Taylor had in mind when she announced the release of her new album.

And while she certainly remains the most successful musical artist on the planet (by most metrics, no one else comes close), Taylor’s popularity may have taken a slight but noticeable dip.

Instagram users notice decline in Taylor’s follower count

Across the social media landscape, Taylor’s critics have reveled in the fact that her Instagram follower count has gone from 282 million to 281 million since TLOAS hit stores.

This still makes it the 14th most popular account, just below Kendall Jenner and just above National Geography (Instagram is a weird place), so it’s probably nothing to worry about for Taylor.

But it’s the kind of situation your social media team might be watching closely.

Of course, as many have pointed out, with so many followers, Instagram rounds to the nearest whole number, so Taylor probably didn’t lose a whole million.

News week estimates that her number of followers has decreased by about 200,000 — a big change when you’re talking nine-figure followers… but still a lot of people.

    More scandals ahead for Taylor?

All these storms can be weathered, of course – but Tay could be in trouble if there are more scandals on the horizon. And that may be the case.

Taylor Swift attends the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton on January 7, 2024 in Beverly Hills, California. Taylor Swift attends the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton on January 7, 2024 in Beverly Hills, California.

The latest criticism of the pop icon has to do with the use of AI in her album’s promotional materials:

“Taylor literally used AI in EVERY one of these little TLOAS visuals,” a user X wrote this week.

“This is literally so bad considering she is the biggest artist of the moment. Why would a billionaire who spends YEARS defending his art need this? Horribly disappointing.”

Maybe nothing will come of this latest controversy — or maybe Taylor will be forced to deal with yet another round of backlash.

Whatever the case, the life of a dancer doesn’t seem very glamorous at the moment.
