Chance The Rapper Calmly Cruises in His ‘Ride Remix’ Video Featuring Chicago Legends Do Or Die and Twista

Chance The Rapper’s return continues with collaborations from some of his hometown heroes. “Ride Remix”, the latest single from The Rapper’s new album, Star Linefeatures Do Or Die and Twista, without whom the entire Windy City rap subculture might not exist. And in the tradition of old-school Chicago rap, the song is built around a slinky, swinging snare rattle, a slick G-funk synth, and a smooth R&B sample (“Don’t Stop” by One Way [Ever Loving Me]”from 1984).

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Do Or Die, Twista collaboration without double rhymes from the guest rappers (Do Or Die already appears in the original, but Twista is the remix’s addition). Their tongue-twisting stylings reflect Chance’s labyrinthine inner schemes in a fun way, and the beat transports you back to 1996 when Do Or Die and Twista released their first single, “Po Pimp.” The Golden Age feel of the video helps, as Chance seemingly brings the whole town out to ride around in Cadillacs with the tops down and show off his best footwork in the parking lot.

Chance is currently finishing his And we went back on tour to Star Linewhich concludes later this month at the Palladium in Los Angeles.
