Warning: SPOILERS for Peacemaker The season 2 finale is forward!
Now this Peacemaker Season 2 is over, DC’s subsequent TV present is Flashlightsthe primary live-action undertaking targeted on Inexperienced Lantern for the reason that 2011 movie starring Ryan Reynolds. On the floor, it won’t appear to be these two DC Universe collection have a lot in widespread. Nonetheless, James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios and Peacemaker creator, revealed an attention-grabbing bond between them, and now hopefully this implies one among comics’ hottest Inexperienced Lanterns will seem in both Flashlights or one other nook of the DCU.
How the Peacemaker and the Lanterns are related
Arguably the two biggest developments the Peacemaker The Season 2 finale, titled “Full Nelson,” was ARGUS discovering the world known as Salvation and Christopher Smith and his friends founding Checkmate. In an interview with Screen summaryJames Gunn talked about that each of this stuff might be considered in additional DCU small-screen tasks, saying:
The opposite packages, like Lanternas, are very related to all of this. It could not appear to be it, nevertheless it’s all very related.
Now, at first, I puzzled if the day would come after we would see members of the Inexperienced Lantern Corps, like Hal Jordan or John Stewart, visiting Salvation. Nonetheless, you will need to keep in mind that Salvation is just not a mere world, however relatively one of many 100 dimensions accessible by way of the Quantum Unfolding Chamber. It is one factor for Inexperienced Lanterns to journey from planet to planet, however even the emerald vitality of willpower cannot allow them to journey the multiverse. So I will be to see how Salvation suits into the story Flashlights I’ll inform.
As for Checkmate, James Gunn described DCU Checkmate in the identical interview as an “group that might be separate from the opposite DCU establishments, that are the federal government, companies, the Justice Gang and typical metahuman gangs.” Checkmate has existed in DC Comics since 1988 as a covert operations agency and has been affiliated with the United Nations Security Council since the late 2000s. It has several superheroes in its ranks, one of which would be a great fit for Flashlights.
Could we see Alan Scott in the DCU?
Alan Scott was the first Green Lantern, debuting in the pages of the 1940s All-American Comics #16. However, rather than being a member of the Green Lantern Corps, Alan’s ring works more on magic than science. Although he has worked with several Green Lanterns, he is best known as a member of the Justice Society. Additionally, he briefly served as the White King of Checkmate, alongside Sasha Bordeaux as the Black Queen.
With the DCU’s Checkmate now established, hopefully this means the door is open for Alan Scott to join this franchise. It’s possible we won’t see him as a Green Lantern in this franchise if it would confuse the general public as to why he isn’t in the Corps with the other snipers. Or maybe he would have retired from being a superhero if the Justice Society disbanded.
Either way, it would be interesting to see him join Checkmate and help make it something closer to the agency in the comics. I hope there’s a balance that can be struck, as I can already imagine an Alan in civilian clothes fighting bad guys in Checkmate’s headquarters with his magic ring.
Maybe seeing Alan Scott in Flashlights Season 1 is too much to ask, but if Season 2 is greenlit, it would be great to see it included. For now, the opening batch of episodes will premiere on HBO in early 2026. Supergirl and Clayface are also falling 2026 Movie Schedule.
