Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Box Office: Varun Dhawn and Jahnvi Kapoor’s Film Earns 3 Crore on 10th

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari aims to raise Rs. 3.25 crore net approximately on its 2nd Saturday. Friday’s jump is about 50-55 percent, which is on the lower side of typical Saturday jumps these days. Films aimed at larger centers these days often double or at least nearly double on Saturdays. The likely reason for the lower growth is that on Friday there was a BOGO offer, which saw business a little high and today, with no offer in play, business is at a normal level.

The film is now priced at Rs. 8.50-9 crore net or more in the second weekend, which will be almost 60 percent lower than the last weekend. The fall isn’t good, but it’s not bad either. The biggest problem is that it comes from a low level of revenue. The total at the end of today will be around Rs. 45 million net. The film will cross Rs. 50 crore net on Monday. That’s not it lol. 50 crore is a good number for this, but at one point it looked like it would be missing. The weekday BOGO offer helped boost it, along with the holiday period and open week(s).

Post-pandemic, genre or mid-range films in general are struggling. A major factor behind this is the erosion of the theatrical base by digital. The eight-week window, which exists to safeguard the theater business, is turning out to be little more than a gate in an open fence. Bigger event films backed by anticipation can still beat this, but mid-range films with no anticipation factor are being relegated to OTT films by audiences as it’s just an eight-week wait to catch them. There have been some films that have been well liked and sailed but even they are not scoring as high as they would have back then. Jolly LLB 3 and Sitaare Zameen Par are two excellent examples from this year.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari had a very good trailer. The songs weren’t big hits, but they were good. In the past, this would have given the film an opening. These days, it hasn’t helped the business because audiences are more than willing to wait for the OTT premiere. The need is for the industry to make this wait inconvenient by lengthening the period to something like six months; otherwise, it’s difficult for the genre and mid-range films.
